My first forex trading

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

After tried some virtual forex trading within Marketiva, and I started to do real tradings from yesterday, but just with the 5 free USDs in marketiva.

Yesterday, I found the GBP is keeping decreasing, so I shorted GBP/USD. The buy in price is at 1.4768, and I set take profit at 1.4550, and stop loss at 1.4900. After about half day, it gave me 218 pips profit. Of course, it is only 2.18 USDs because of my trade size, but it is still a good start, isn’t it?

Free credits from Webhostingpad

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

When I searched my web hosting, Webhostingpad said their package includes $25 google credit, $25 Yahoo credit, and $50 Miva credit. However, several days after I signed the contract, I still do not know where are those credits. I could not wait, so I sent an email to them, and asked them where they are.

They replied to me soon, and told me how I can get those credits. They sent me two links for Yahoo and Miva. By clicking these two links, I can get my credits quite easily (need deposit 5 USDs to get 50 USDs Miva credit). However, for google credit, it is not “free” actually. I have to deposit non-refundable $5 first, and then I can get 25$ credit.

I still do not know how to use those credits now. If you know, please let me know. :-)

My blog can be searched by google!

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I was so happy to find that my blog can be searched by google today. When I searched “blog nemo” in google, my blog was first listed in the search results!

I am not sure if it is because I submitted my blog to google webmaster two days ago, or because I visited Yahoo mybloglog community lots of times recently. Anyway, people can find my blog through google now. It really encouraged me to continue my blog.

10 things to do after installed WordPress

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It is simple to install the WordPress (it was not easy for me), but it is just a beginning. There are still lots of things to do. After search the internet, and I found a good post about 10 things to do after installed WordPress.

It was originally written in Spanish, and a Chinese blogger translated it to Chinese. I read the Chinese version, and try to simply list these 10 things in my blog. I will check if I have done all of these things. Hope I can finish most of them soon.

1. Install Akismet plugin to prevent spam. (done)

Web hosting selection

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

It took me about one week to select a web hosting for my blog.

There are lots of information about web hostings in the website, so I spent about 2 or 3 days to read them, and got some basic ideas about web hosting.

Maybe my starting point is same as most of blog starters, and I found a UK web hosting provider which can provide a free starter package. The features of the free package looks great, so I spent several quids and registered a domain. When I tried to start my blog, I found a serious problem of that free package: it does not provide MySQL database! Also, its bandwidth is only 100M/month although it provide 2000M webspace. But you can not expect more for a free space, isn’t it?

Nemo’s first Blog

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Finally, I installed WordPress through the hosting Control Panel, and now I can start to write my blog. :-)

But there are still lots of things to do, for example, install plugins. I just installed a very popular plugin, Akismet. It was not easy, I could not find the WordPress API key at the beginning. The help file in the WordPress website was not helpful at all!

After google, I found out I have to register an account in WordPress.com, and then I will obtain an API key!  Why WordPress.com does not tell users about this?

Anyway, I have started, and will continue………..
